ONGOING PROJECTS

There are two projects currently going on at KITWASCO:

1. ILIMUKUYU EARTH DAM AND WATER SUPPLY PROJECT:

Kitui Water and Sanitation Company Limited started construction of a new 207,192 m³ (207,192,000 L) Earth dam in Ilimukuyu, Endau-Malalani ward, Kitui East Sub County, Kitui County, sited suitably along the grazing zone for both domestic and livestock water access.

• Enhance access to safe water for 19,908 people and 1,414 livestock
• Enhanced sanitation and hygiene for 23,088 people
• Establishment and training of four community water management & water resource management committees responsible for the management and steering of the effective management and sustaining of water supply and water resource conservation respectively.
• Water resource and rangeland management targeting 225 km²
• Socio-economic opportunities to benefit at least 3,180 people.

2. KALUNDU PUBLIC SANITATION FACILITY:

Kitui Water and Sanitation Co. started the construction of a new public sanitation facility in Kalundu, Township ward, Kitui Central sub-county, Kitui County, which is sited suitably along Kalundu Market.

• Improved and sustained access to sanitation services by Kalundu residents.
• Enhanced sanitation and hygiene to 3,122 people.
• Establishment and training of four community sanitation management committees responsible for the management and sustaining of sanitation facilities respectively.
• Socio-economic opportunities to benefit at least 3,180 people
